Abstract

Despite its initial flourishing, Islamic civilization was gradually damaged by factors that led it to decline. Some of these factors were internal, which had a negative impact on it from within the Islamic society; and some were external, meaning factors that from the surrounding world and external events, destroyed and weakened Islamic civilization. Just as the rise and expansion of this civilization have been of interest to thinkers, its stagnation and decline have not escaped their attention, and each has addressed some of these factors. In this article, in a descriptive-analytical manner, the question is raised as to what internal factors have been influential on the decline of Islamic civilization from the perspective of contemporary Arab Muslim thinkers? The research findings show that in the analysis and study of these thinkers, long-term ideological, political, social, moral and scientific crises from within the Islamic society (some examples of which are stated in the text of the article) have had an impact on the decline of Islamic civilization. This favorable internal conditions have smoothed the impact of external factors.
