Muhammad ibn Ali ibn Abi-Talin, Known as ibn Hanafiyah, was the son of Imam Ali and a wonan called Khulah al-Hanafiyah. Following Imam Husayn's martyrdom and Yazid's death shortly afterwards, the group which largely formed the radical and Ghali (Exaggerating) political faction of the Shiؤh began to publicly promote the Imamah )leadership( of ibn Hanafiyah Simultaneous with and in Mukhtar's uprising in Iarq. The sect known as the Kaysaniyah was actually born out of this movement. This caused the ardent animosity between Abdullah ibn Zubar who claimed the Caliphate and ibn Hanafiyah, because with Mukhtar's uprising in Iraq ibn Zubayr looked upon ibn Hanafiyah as a threat to his claim to the Khilafah. The persent article deals with the factors and grounds responsible for the rivalry between ibn Zubayr and ibn Hanafiyah, the political positions and relations of ibn Hanafiyah, and the appearance of the Khashabiyah in support of ibn Hanafiyah.
