Pathology of the Religious Policy of Nader Shah with the Emphasis on the Role of Abdullah Al- Suwaidi (1174 A.H) in Najaf Congress

Abstract

Many extensive researches have been done related to the convergence congress developed by Nader Shah Afshar in Najaf as his last endeavor aimed for the convergence among the scholars of the world of Islam. However, there are too many implicit aspects before the historians. The present research has investigated the position of Sheikh Abdullah Al- Suwaidi (1174 A.H) in Najaf congress and the why of congress failure. Taking advantage of the descriptive-analytical method, this writing has concluded that Al- Suwaidi, the representative of Ahmad Pasha, the governor of Bagdad, who had attended the Congress of Najaf in order to formally recognize Jafari religion in 1156 (A.H) was not the representative of Othmani government and this very issue was considered as the main element of congress failure

قام العدید من المؤرخین إلى إجراء العدید من الأبحاث المکثفة حول مؤتمر نادر شاه التقریبی فی النجف الأشرف، تحت عنوان آخر محاولة له للتقارب بین علماء العالم الإسلامی، و لکن لا یزال هناک العدید من الزوایا الغیر محکیّة حوله من قبل المؤرخین. یتطرق هذا البحث لذکر الدور الذی لعبه الشیخ عبد الله السویدی

(م 1174ق) فی مؤتمر النجف، بالإضافة إلى الحدیث حول عدم وصول هذا المؤتمر لأی نتیجة. یمکن الاستنتاج، و من خلال الأسلوب الوصفی التحلیلی، أنّ الشیخ السویدی کان ممثلاً عن أحمد باشا حاکم بغداد، الذی کان لدیه موقفاً سنیّاً، و قد شارک فی مؤتمر النجف عام 1156 هـ بهدف الاعتراف رسمیّاً بالمذهب الجعفری، و قد أدى عدم تمثیله للدولة العثمانیة إلى عدم وصول هذا المؤتمر إلى نتیجة
