Abstract

Genealogy is considered as a branch of studies being of great significance historically, socially and jurisprudentially particularly for Shiites.
The sources of genealogy provide some information related to the descendents of Abbas Ibn e- Ali PBUH. On the basis of the book under the title of Zaad ol- A’van compiled in 1315 After Hijrah as the only document, Abbasid Alawites came to India in the end of the fifth century and the tribe of A’van e- hend already called Alawites is attributed to them. In order to investigate the accuracy of this attribution, this writing has studied the documentary sources of Zaad ol- A’van including Mizan e- Hashemi, Mizan e- Qotbi, and Kholasat ol- Ansab by referring to authorities’ sources, kinship, history, and tradition and it has concluded that the first two books are not of any external entity whereas the third book under the title of Kholasat ol- Aqval definitely belongs to Allameh Helli and its issues is sufficient enough to approve this claim.
Furthermore, the historical approval of a character named “Own Qotb Shah” referring to the holiness Abbas PBUH and Caliph Abdolqader Gilani is not feasible by the presented documents.
