The Role of Religious Places in the Social and Political Discourses of Qajar Era, Case Study of Tehran

Abstract

The study of influential elements on the social and political discourses of Qajar era is of significance since at this time, the community of Iran was involved with the social and political heterogeneities due to the confrontation of modernism and traditionalism. These eras provided the ground for the politicians to change the typical thoughts of community, the literature and discourse of aristocrats. The Religious places, due to their values, are of significant role regarding the enlightenment of community and the guidance of diverse classes in the direction of doing their responsibilities. The religious places of Qajar time fought against the invasion and deceptions of alien politicians as well as the political strangers through the national unity, organization of movements and trends, considering the national and international issues, developing the discourse of interaction and convergence, guidance, analysis of legitimacy and favorableness of policies.
Identifying the political and social function of religious places in Qajar time this article will present a model pertaining to the study of function and pathology of religious places in the present century and detect the diverse functions of religious places in this era.
