The investigation on the emergence and collapse of this dynasty has been the main property of this research, but the cause of this issue has not been that much regarded. While in the latest decades it has been prevalent the interdisciplinary approaches as well as the study on the cause of collapse of dynasties through the historical sociological view within the historiography. This writing has investigated the researches done in regard with Umayyads in the three domains of western, Arabic and Iranian historiography in the latest centuries considering the order of researches and the school to which the researches belong. It has endeavored to manifest the drawbacks of each of them. Finally, it has reminded some points related to the necessities of Umayyad survey in the future. تاریخ دودمان اموی یکی از مهم‌ترین برهه‌های تاریخی در جهان اسلام است که تاریخ‌پژوهان پرشماری به بررسی آن پرداخته‌اند. کاوش در چگونگی برآمدن تا برافتادن این دودمان، شاخصه اصلی این پژوهش‌ها بوده است. اما فراکاوی و کالبدشکافی چرایی برآمدن و برافتادن امویان امری است که تاکنون چندان مورد توجه قرار نگرفته است. این در حالی است که در دهه‌های اخیر رهیافت‌های میان رشته‌ای و به دنبال آن بررسی چرایی برافتادن دودمان‌های تاریخی با بهره‌گیری از نظریات جامعه‌شناسی تاریخی، در تاریخ‌نگاری رواج چشم‌گیری داشته است. این نوشتار پژوهش‌های گوناگون صورت گرفته پیرامون امویان را در سه حوزه تاریخ‌نگاری غربی، عربی و ایرانی در دو قرن اخیر، با در نظر گرفتن توالی زمانی پژوهش‌ها و مکتبی که پژوهش بدان تعلق دارد مورد بررسی قرار داده و کوشیده است کاستی‌ها و نارسایی‌های هر یک از آن‌ها را نمایان سازد و سرانجام درباره بایسته‌های اموی‌پژوهی در آینده، چند نکته را یادآور شده است. https://hiq.bou.ac.ir/article_17830_5b8c409a49ad2704de4a4f609cf53ea3.pdf
